Tjawina Porter Nampitjinpa

Tjawina Porter Nampitjinpa was born in 1940 in Yumara, Western Australia.  She is the sister of Esther Giles Nampitjinpa and half-sister to Nyurapayia Nampitjinpa (Mrs Bennet). She is known for her skill as a traditional basket weaver and wood carver and has gained prominence as a painter.

Tjawina paints dreaming sites from her country, including the sites of Yumari, Punkilpirri, and Tjalili. These sites are important for ceremonies and reliable sources of water and traditional food plants.
